STTI Founders' Day!

When:  Oct 5, 2016

for being a proud member and a part of The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) legacy!

In 1922, six nurses founded STTI at the Indiana University Training School for Nurses, which is now the Indiana University School of Nursing, in Indianapolis, Ind., USA. The founders chose the name from the Greek words storgé, tharsos, and timé, meaning love, courage, and honor. Each biennium, STTI recognizes esteemed nurses and other individuals from around the world who exemplify these three words.

As part of her call to action, President Cathy Catrambone has invited all honor society members to influence through philanthropy.

“Continue the tradition of celebrating STTI's annual Founders Day - 5th of October - with 90 minutes of service as a volunteer at organizations that align with your passion.”

— Cathy Catrambone, PhD, RN, FAAN

This could include the following:

  •  Volunteer at a food bank.
  •  Serve at a homeless shelter.
  •  Participate in a neighborhood clean-up activity.
  •  Complete a walk/run for charity.
  •  Serve as a mentor.

Love. Courage. Honor.
Founded in 1922, these three STTI values remain as defining characteristics in every STTI member today. Share your nursing passion and tell us why you love being a nurse!
