    TITLE OF STUDY  Implicit Biases in Nursing  PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR Andrea Williams Logan University Andrea.williams@logan.edu   PURPOSE OF STUDY The purpose of this study is to identify implicit biases in a selected sample of nurses.   You are invited to participate in a research study designed to identify implicit biases among nurses. Before you decide to participate in this study, it is important that you understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please read the following information carefully. Contact the primary researcher if there is anything that is not clear or if you need more information.   There is a need for the nursing profession to address the role of implicit biases in health care. There is a gap between identifying nurse-specific biases and the relationship of these biases to health care disparities.   STUDY PROCEDURES This research project consists of two parts: The links are located at the bottom of this consent   PART ONE: Taking the IAT test. The implicit association test (IAT) will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.   PART TWO: Post-Assessment 14 questionnaire for the research data. The Post Assessment  14 questionnaire for the research data will take you approximately 5 minutes to complete.   Your information will be confidential with no identifiable information attached to the test. Please follow the instructions provided in the link to begin the test. By selecting the start button, you are consenting to this test. RISKS This research project involves minimal to no risk of harm and involves no clinical procedures. If at any time you feel uncomfortable or decide not to participate for any reason you may decline your involvement with loss of benefits to which you are normally entitled. BENEFITS You will have the benefit of receiving continuing education units for participating in this research project. We hope that the information you obtained from this research will help you identify your personal implicit biases in the nursing profession. CONFIDENTIALITY Your email address will be encrypted to maintain your confidentiality and anonymity in the research project. Please do not write any identifying information on any part of the surveys.   All data will be stored electronically on a password-protected computer accessible only by the Principal Investigator. COMPENSATION You will have the opportunity to receive continuing education units for participating in this research once the project is completed.
