  • Region 9 Regional Recognition 2023

    Delta Omicron Chapter has been awarded the first Region 9 Regional Recognition! This recognition honors chapters that are fulfilling Sigma’s Strategic Goals and Presidential Call to Action. We have been recognized for going beyond what is required to purposefully plan and implement strategies that are of value to our profession, members, and Sigma international. Great work! Our chapter delegates will receive the official award during the Biennium Convention in San Antonio.

    Sigma is proud to participate in our special production of The Nurse Antigone, a virtual Theater of War production featuring professional actors and a chorus of frontline nurses who are Sigma members. This dramatic reading of Sophocles' Antigone will help frame powerful, guided discussions about the unique challenges faced by today's nurses and the impact of the pandemic on nurses.   • Research Grant Recipient

    The Delta Omicron Chapter is pleased to announce Azza Ahmed, DNSc, RN, IBCLC, CPNP, FAAN with the 2022 Research award. Dr. Ahmed’s research project titled, “Factors Associated with Maternal Postpartum Anxiety and Depression among Breastfeeding Mother of Late-Preterm, Early-Preterm, and Full-Term Infants”, will be awarded $2,000. The research seeks to fill the identified gap on how maternal and infant breastfeeding difficulties play a role in postpartum anxiety and depression. As an international expert on breastfeeding, our Sigma chapter is excited we can contribute to the future of this important research topic. Our warmest congratulations to Dr. Ahmed on this research award money and Delta Omicron looks forward to hearing the outcome of the research.
